 s, and other heroes who helped shape early America.Each month, we’ll exp
 lore the story of a different historical figure from ⁠Forgotten Founders
  and learn how people from many backgrounds played important roles in our 
 nation’s history. Through stories and activities, kids will see how the 
 past connects to the present—and how learning history can help us build 
 a better future.Because history belongs to everyone, and every story matte
 rs.It’s been 250 years since the Declaration of Independence was signed!
  Since then, America has grown as more voices, communities, and thoughts c
 ontinue to create the America we know today. To mark this milestone, commu
 nities across the country are joining the nationwide America250 celebratio
 n. This program is part of Dallas Public Library&#039;s 250 Years of Us: R
 eading America&#039;s Past, Writing Our Future.   Dive into the past all
  year long, as we host programs, exhibits and book clubs that explore how 
 our nation’s history has shaped American democracy today. Anyone can joi
 n our Amazing Race for Independence challenge and win Dallas Mavericks or 
 Wings tickets, State Park passes and more! Every book read from the readin
 g list, program attended or exhibit visited counts as an entry.
