Grow with Us is a series of online sessions from the Dallas Public Library - Seed Library, and Dallas Environmental Quality and Sustainability hosting expert speakers to share practical, informative and inspirational information about growing and urban agriculture in Dallas.

Are you interested in creating your own food chain in your backyard? Backyard chickens provide eggs, meat, natural pest control and are fun to have. Learn about different chicken breeds, coop designs and requirements, and how to take care of your flock from Andrea Ridout, soon-to-be author on a book about backyard chickens with Jeff Raska for Texas A&M University Press.

After three decades in the hardware industry and radio/TV, Andrea Ridout of Garland has become a nationally-known expert on products and processes for green living and home improvement. She has owned and sold three award-winning companies including Rooster Home & Hardware in Lake Highlands, home of George the Rooster. Andrea is the former host of Mother Earth News Radio and her own show, Ask Andrea. These days, she writes for GreenSourceDFW.com. She is also working on her second book – about backyard chickens for Texas A&M Press. You can reach her at Andrea@AskAndrea.com
