Celebrate LIFE, COMMUNITY, and CULTURE this Kwanzaa from the comfort of your home. DPL's Young Black Readers Newsletter staff are here to make your at home Kwanzaa celebration one you will never forget.
Become immersed in the African storytelling of Afiah Bey. Be creative and learn about African textiles with Renee Miche'al Jones. We will also honor award- winning author and illustrator Jerry Pinkney.
The first 75 registrants will receive a Kwanzaa craft kit with materials to create their own African textile and 2 mystery book giveaways from the YBR newsletter. All kits and books are while supplies last. *If you are unable to receive a kit the instructions with supplies listed and applique patterns are available for you to print and download in the "Attachments" section of this event page.
We will send the kit and books to your Dallas Public Library branch of choice and library staff there will contact you to set a pickup appointment. Registrants within one week of the program may not receive their kit in time, but are still welcome to join!
If that isn't enough, during the program we will announce 2 grand prize winners from the registrants to win a YBR gift basket filled with Jerry Pinkney books and more!
This Kwanzaa celebration is going to be spectacular!
This program is available online only. Registration is required for interaction and to receive a kit while supplies last. Details on how to participate will be emailed. Emails may go to your spam folder.
