Why "Bare Bones" Shakespeare?
Teaching artists from Bare Bones Shakespeare bring in their expertise in minimalist theatrical design and how -- and why -- it pairs so well with the works of William Shakespeare and other early modern playwrights.
Participants will learn about the staging practices common during Shakespeare's time, and how Bare Bones Shakespeare has appropriated elements of Shakespeare's design and business model into a functioning modern theatre. The teaching artists will also perform scenes and monologues from Shakespeare's plays, focusing on moments that seem to require a large and complex set or elaborate costumes. Participants will also be invited to read scenes and monologues during this 2-hour workshop.
Registration isn’t required, please do so if you would like email reminders event updates.
