Celebrate Asian-American Pacific Islander Heritage Month with todays crafternoon craft of Koinobori or Carp Kites! 

Koinobori which translates to "carp streamer" in Japanese, are carp-shaped windsocks or kites traditionally flown in Japan to celebrate Tango no sekku, a traditional calendrical event which is now designated as Children's Day. Celebrate Children's Day (May 5) and make your own Carp Kite! 

Supplies:

  • dowel or long stick
  • craft rolls
  • tissue paper
  • paper
  • scissors 
  • crape paper
  • glue
