Event Details

Celebrate Asian-American Pacific Islander Heritage Month with todays crafternoon craft of Shadow Puppets!

The art of Shadow puppetry is considered the oldest form of puppetry in the world. It began 1,000's years ago in China and India and is still practiced today in many forms! From dance troops to casting shadow shapes with your hand.
Today we will be making our own shadow puppets in the Indonesian puppet style (wayang) and a stage to perform. Wayang is a classical Javanese puppet drama that uses the shadows thrown by puppets controlled by rods against a translucent screen lit from behind.
