Program Description

Event Details

Dallas is perhaps not known for its trees when people describe the various areas of the city, but Mike Sills, Regional Urban Forester, for Texas A&M Forest Service, will dispel this notion.  He will tell us about his job and what we need to know about programs such as Texas Abor Day, Dallas’ Tree City U.S.A. designation, and other interesting forestry programs and facts.  Dallas is home to thousands of trees plus the 6,000-acre urban hardwood forest, the Great Trinity Forest, located within the city limits. Trees provide oxygen, clean the air, fight against erosion, store stormwater, and urban runoff. They also provide food and habitat for wildlife of all types, basically, they are an environmental wonder. Team up with Mike to find out more.

Earth Day Every Day is a series of online environmental education sessions continuing with the Earth Day theme and bringing expert speakers, special program topics, and a reminder that every day is Earth Day. Presented by Dallas Environmental Quality and Sustainability (DEQS; Green Dallas).  These topics empower Dallas residents to make sustainable choices that improve the quality of life for everyone in Dallas and the world.

This program is available online only, through Zoom. Registration is required. Zoom information will be emailed the day of the program. Emails may go to your spam folder.
