Anton Chekhov was a Russian playwright and short story writer. Four of his plays are classics and his best short stories are highly regarded. America's Chekhov is Raymond Carter. Although his name may not be familiar, Carver is a poet and the most influential writer of American short stories in the second half of the twentieth century.
