Get Started with Grants and Nonprofits! This four-class series will walk students through the basics of starting a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, from incorporation paperwork to writing your first grant proposal. Learn what you’ll need at each step, how to use our Candid databases to research potential funders and promote your own organization, and more!

April's class will provide you with an overview of how to write a standard project proposal to a foundation. It will include:

  • The basic elements of a proposal
  • The "do's" and "don'ts" of writing and submitting a proposal
  • How to follow up whether the answer is yes or no
  • Hands-on exercise to develop a proposal outline

Upon completion of this course, you'll be able to:

  • Understand how to write a standard project proposal to a foundation.
