The 1950s are often called the “golden age” of science fiction film, marked by a surge in American-made classics and numerous low-budget productions.

We're starting the series off with Forbidden Planet from 1956. Set in the 23rd century, a survey expedition ship has vanished in distant space, and Commander John J. Adams (Leslie Nelson, looking younger and a bit different if all you know him from is Airplane!) is charged with commanding starship C-57D on a mission to find out what happened to the missing crew.
