The first Dallas Poet Laureate, Joaquín Zihuatanejo, will hold office hours for aspiring poets in the city of Dallas! These sessions are designed to help Dallas poets work on individual poems and to eventually create a poetry manuscript.

Keyboard practice, Mouse practice, Browser practice, Search Engine practice, and managing windows practice.

Movie Wednesday!
Every 2nd Wednesday of the month, we will have a movie screening for all teens, tweens, and school-age kids starting at 3 p.m. The movie changes every month!
All films will be rated G or PG. 

Do you have what it takes to win at Dominoes, Uno, Connect 4, and other games? Join the HELP Desk team every Wednesday at 3pm for Game Day. 

Kids and teens will be provided with a quiet, relaxed environment in which to complete homework and school assignments for at least an hour each week. Library staff will be on hand to assist and answer questions as needed.

Help us spread friendship and joy for World Kindness Day! Transform a plain river rock into a beautiful message of positivity with a little paint and a lot of heart.

Wednesdays at 4pm will be the keyboard class with an emphasis on music theory!

Classes run from October 11th through December 20th. 

Dedicate some time to write at the Lakewood Branch Library! This time is blocked out for those who wish to write and work on their NANOWRIMO or personal projects. 

Let's make our own city! This week will be making trees, bushes, flowers, and gardens. Join us to create a town of your own that will be displayed in the library!

Kindness is in the air, help spread it by creating a kindness stone for yourself or someone else! Give it to someone special, leave it on the ground for someone else to find, or gift it to yourself as an affirmation.

Visit the Prairie Creek branch every Wednesday after school from 4:00pm to 5:00pm for a fun circle of reading with kids your age!

The Texas Bluebonnet Award is a children’s choice literary award for Texas children (grades 3 - 6) to vote for their favorite title from the 20 nominated. If they read 5, they will vote for their favorite at their school in January.

Stop by the Vickery Park Branch Library every Wednesday @ 4 pm to learn the rules and strategies of chess!

This program is suitable for kids ages 7 and up and welcome to all!

Each class features beginner level instructions in guitar by an experienced instructor. Instruments provided. Great for ages 8 - 18. For the best learning experience, students should try to attend as many sessions as possible.

Totem poles are a traditional way of telling the stories of First Nation families and clans, and of keeping records of important historical events.

Create your own totem pole then discuss what story your totem pole tells!
