The heady smell and compelling look of flowers is all it takes to make us smile and feel better. We use them as gifts, to decorate our homes and to celebrate special occasions. For insects, the feeling is much the same except they thrive off each other. Floral symbioses between plants and insects are real. The shape, color and smell of a flower can help you figure out what may visit them and what you might want in your landscape to lure them over to your house and to help pollinators feel right at home. John Watts of the Texas Discovery Gardens returns to teach us more about this special connection.
John Watts is passionate about the biodiversity of this planet and its importance to the overall functioning of this biosphere, the planet we call home.
