School gardens are learning gardens for students as well as volunteers. All skill levels are welcome. Volunteers are a vital part of helping these gardens thrive for the students. Dawn Cleaves, garden coordinator for Richardson ISD, will discuss aspects of volunteering at school gardens and how you can get involved. Learn about regular maintenance volunteer opportunities vs. workdays and the possibility of working with classes in the garden to support teachers and garden educators. Tips for managing children and working with kids in ways that they can do the work themselves will be shared as well. Join the gardening fun and help our littlest gardeners learn not just gardening and STEM lessons, but many other skills like communication, teamwork, ownership, and leadership.
Grow with Us is a series of online sessions from the Dallas Public Library - Seed Library and Dallas Environmental Quality and Sustainability hosting expert speakers to share practical, informative, and inspirational information about growing and urban agriculture in Dallas.
