Lakewood Library welcomes Master Gardener Lennard Nadalo presenting on Perils in the Garden and How to Avoid Them. An experienced Master Garden will discuss the various factors that could lead to devastation and how to prevent that from happening.

Len Nadalo was raised in Chicago, where he helped his father grow vegetables in a “Victory” style garden in the backyard. The growing season was short, but the soil was black and rich. Lennard secured a degree in biology and ecology before deciding to become a physician. His love of nature and the need for “balance” was reinforced by his experiences in the desert Southwest. Upon graduation from Northwestern University Medical School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. For the next ten years, Len traveled to Washington state, San Antonio, Texas, Honolulu, Hawaii, and Washington, D.C. In each location, he enjoyed the variety of plants and animals that made up his “neighborhood.” For the past 35 years, he has lived and gardened in Dallas first as a rose “specialist” and, more recently, as an advocate for sustainable gardening while maintaining “an urban wildlife habitat.” Len Nadalo lives with his wife, Barbara and his dog Hutch in North Dallas.

Lennard gives a talk on how to avoid hazards in the garden.
