Master Naturalists Present...For the Love of Moths (Live from the Nature Expo!)

Presenter Sam Kiechnick will talk all about moths. Although not as famed as their day-flying cousins, moths are crucial for the ecosystem, have some magnificent patterns, and are tremendously diverse. In the DFW area, we have documented over 800 species of moths! Learn about how you can manage your habitat to encourage moth diversity and find out some ways that you can document and identify the various species that you might see in the area.

Sam Kieschnick is an urban wildlife biologist with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, serving the east side of the DFW metroplex. He has a master’s degree from Tarleton State University studying the genetics of pocket gophers.  As an urban wildlife biologist, Sam’s focus is on three A’s: Awareness, Appreciation, and Action.
