Program Description

Event Details

This will be the final class of the series. Class will be on WEDNESDAY.

A series of programs using plants to do printmaking.

Topics will include:

collagraphs
Create a printing plate by collaging different materials and gluing them together onto a piece of cardstock.

gelatin plate prints
Achieve quick yet very detailed prints using a gel plate! This method allows you to create many prints with different results every time. We’ll experiment with botanical elements, paper stencils and other found objects to create a series of prints.

plexiglass plate prints
A more “painterly” take on printmaking! We’ll draw & paint on smooth plexiglass and pull the impressions onto our paper.

styrofoam plate relief
This is an easy warm up printing activity to test the fundamentals of printmaking! You’ll have a printing plate by simply drawing directly onto the styrofoam.

linoleum/rubber prints
Cut your image onto your printing plate using a carving tool. The raised areas left of the printing plate are inked and printed, while the areas that have been carved away do not pick up the ink. This is called a relief print!

 chine collé
A technique we’ll use in conjunction with lino/rubber cuts to add background colors to our prints using colorful tissue paper.

Part of the Inspired Aging programs
Supplies are limited to the first 10 people. Registration is recommended.
