Stan Aten – Gardening Biography

I did not start gardening until I bought my house in 1986. It was an older home with an established garden. I learned to garden by touring public gardens around the state and thru gardening programs, many of them presented by the Dallas County Master Gardeners.

I helped start the Rainbow Garden Club North Texas in 1992 and ever since then I have been active in gardening. I am currently President of the Rainbow Garden Club North Texas, member of the Iris Society of Dallas, Texas Daffodil Society, and the treasurer of the Dallas Council of Garden Clubs.

In my small urban garden, I grow a wide variety of flowers, shrubs and even tomatoes. I still look forward to touring public gardens and that was the inspiration for my program, “My Top 10 Public Gardens in Texas”.
