Program Description

Event Details

Dragonflies are a sure sign of summer! Hear from a wildlife expert, Sam Kieschnick with Texas Parks and Wildlife, as he shares facts and research on all types of these amazing creatures. He will also talk to us about urban insects, there are a lot of them all around us! Sam recently spent time in the lower Rio Grande Valley conducting insert surveys, and he gathered a remarkable collection.

Dragonflies can reach speeds of 35 miles per hour and can gracefully lift off from any surface just like a helicopter. They swoop, hover and come in a variety of shapes and colors. Look for this specialized insect swooping around yards and along waterways.
