Learn about the intricacies of jewelry-making from an industry professional! In this class taught by local artist Dawn Franklin, students will learn the secrets of making handmade jewelry and be able to practice these skills in a hands-on working environment while getting one-on-one pointers from the instructor. Students will make necklaces, bracelets and earrings using materials such as African trade beads, exotic wood and gemstones which Dawn uses in her own work.
In this class participants will learn the basics of how to construct and design stretch bracelets. Participants will learn the basic raw materials used to ensure the long lasting construction of their desired designs. There will be a brief introduction to the types of stones and beads recommended to create one of a kind pieces. Each participant will leave the class with one (1) finished stretch bracelet.
This class is intended for patrons ages 55 and up.
Registrants who do not arrive by 15 minutes from the start of class may forfeit their spot to a waitlisted participant.
Dawn Franklin is a Dallas-based artist with nearly two decades’ experience making jewelry. She is the owner of Dawn Franklin Designs, a shop offering handmade African-inspired jewelry.
