Being able to grow your own food is a talent that many of us have not had a chance to practice because of how easy it is to buy things at a local grocery store. Thankfully, it’s not hard to get started so you can learn about growing, eating, and composting the scraps back into the same earth you got it from. With the right knowledge, we can take small steps to become more self-sufficient and have a deeper appreciation for what it takes to get food on our tables.

Lauren Clarke is the Founder of Turn, a DFW-based environmental service that takes common food waste and turns it into compost for use in gardens and on farms. She is a certified Dallas County Master Gardener and composting specialist with Texas A&M AgriLife and a United States Composting Council educated compost facility operator.

Grow with Us is a series of online sessions from the Dallas Public Library - Seed Library and Dallas Environmental Quality and Sustainability hosting expert speakers to share practical, informative, and inspirational information about growing and urban agriculture in Dallas.

This program is available online only.
