Have you ever had a strange new plant pop up in your yard or seen an intriguing plant while out walking and wonder how you identify it? Learn the basics of plant identification and how to use books, websites, and apps to help you determine what that mysterious plant is from Jessie Farris, a City of Dallas arborist with a Masters in Sustainable Resource Management. You'll get to practice some of your new found skills to identify some mystery plants.
Jessie developed a passion for conservation and native plants at Texas Christian University before graduating in 2017. She has been with the City of Dallas for three years as the Northwest District Arborist. When she’s not in the field or meeting with clients, Jessie’s focus is on public education and developing training materials for the City. She also serves on the City of Burleson Parks Board and Secretary for the Trinity Blacklands Urban Forestry Council. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Science Education at Texas Christian University.
Grow with Us is a series of online sessions from the Dallas Public Library - Seed Library and Dallas Environmental Quality and Sustainability hosting expert speakers to share practical, informative, and inspirational information about growing and urban agriculture in Dallas.
