In the aftermath of Winter Storm Uri, many North Texas residents are wondering how their trees have faired and how to help aid their recovery. In this presentation Emily Plauché, Urban Forestry Research Coordinator with the Texas Trees Foundation, will cover freeze damage and impacts on trees, recommendations, and steps to guide residents in making decisions to promote tree health and safety. She will then transition to talking about the upcoming fall planting season and how to select the correct tree species, how to plant your tree, and tree care after planting.

Emily Plauché is the Urban Forestry Research Coordinator at Texas Trees Foundation. She is a DFW native and currently lives in Dallas with her husband and their dog, Percy. Emily received a Master’s Degree in Forestry from Mississippi Sate University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Resource and Ecology Management from Louisiana State University. While in graduate school she conducted research in a diverse array of forests ranging from South Texas to Siberia. Before starting her role at Texas Trees Foundation, Emily joined the non-profit world as the Trial Garden Supervisor at the Dallas Arboretum. Emily has always felt connected to the outdoors and enjoys getting other people excited about the trees and plants surrounding them. Emily’s role at Texas Trees Foundation allows her to combine her background of research, eagerness for community outreach and passion for educating others on the importance of trees.
